BUIES CREEK – Campbell scored 34 unanswered points and went on to defeat Robert Morris 41-10 Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
Hajj-Malik Williams threw for three scores and the Camels
sacked Robert Morris quarterbacks six times as Campbell (4-2, 2-0 Big South)
won its third-straight game.
Robert Morris (0-6, 0-2) finished with just 188 total yards,
105 coming on two plays. Campbell rolled up 516 yards of total offense –
marking the 400-yard mark for the fourth-straight outing.
Williams completed 26-of-35 passes for 249 yards. Ezeriah
Anderson had seven receptions for 91 yards and a score, while Chaney Fitzgerald
finished with four catches for 66 yards and two TDs. RJ Jackson finished with
three receptions for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Lamagea McDowell led Campbell on the ground with 56 yards on
nine rushes and a score. Campbell ran 94 plays to just 51 for the Colonials.
Campbell held RMU to just eight rushing yards, which is tied
for the second-lowest ground total allowed in Campbell’s Division I era (since
2008). The Camels gave up just three rushing yards in a 39-9 win at Davidson in
2015.
Defensive end Brevin Allen had three sacks and an
interception in the opening half, while Gabe Holmes led the Camels with six
total tackles.

Zach Tanner completed 5-of-11 passes for 66 yards and Corbin LaFrance 5-of-16 for 38 yards for the Colonials.
Robert Morris went in front in the first quarter on a
64-yard halfback pass from Jamal Hill to Parker Fetterman. Jayson Jenkins’ PAT
gave Robert Morris a 7-0 lead with 8:44 left in the period, marking the first
time the Camels trailed at home this season.
Williams connected with Fitzgerald on a 27-yard TD pass to
bring the Camels even with 5:36 left in the period.
RMU moved back in front 10-7 on Jenkins’ 44-yard field goal
– which was set up by a 41-yard pass completion from Tanner to Kimon
O’Sullivan, which gave the Colonials a first down at the Campbell 11. However,
the Camels forced an incompletion and Allen sacked Tanner on third down for
force the field goal attempt.
Campbell responded with 27 unanswered points to take a 34-10
lead at the break. Williams hit Fitzgerald on a 36-yard scoring pass on the
first play of the second quarter.
McDowell broke through the line on a 4th-and-one at the
Colonials 34 to make it 21-10 with 9:24 to play in the half. Williams then hit
Anderson with a 14-yard TD pass and Caleb Dowden added a pair of field goals to
stretch the lead to 24 at intermission.
Campbell outgained RMU 344-134 in the first half and ran 30
more plays than the Colonials.
In the second half, the Camels held Robert Morris to just 54
yards of total offense.
Freshman QB Chad Mascoe connected with Jackson on a 17-yard
scoring pass with 12:55 left in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Campbell returns to action next Saturday with a 2:00 p.m.
