Wake Forest will hit the road for the first time in 2017 and
open ACC play on Saturday, September 9 against Boston College in Chestnut Hill,
Massachusetts.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium and will be
broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Robert Lee and Matt Chatham will have the call
of Saturday’s game. Saturday’s game can also be heard on the Wake Forest Sports
Network. Stan Cotten and Lary Sorensen have the call with Dave Goren reporting
from the sidelines.
Wake Forest opened the 2017 campaign on the right foot,
rolling past Presbyterian, 51-7, on Thursday, August 31. Senior Cam Serigne and
redshirt freshman Greg Dortch each caught a pair of touchdown passes. John
Wolford accounted for four touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) while
Kendall Hinton added three more (two passing, one rushing).
Wake Forest’s 51 points scored are the most under head coach
Dave Clawson and the program’s most since scoring 54 against Duke in 2010. The
Deacs were picked to finish fifth in the ACC Atlantic Division.
Boston College opened the 2017 season on the road, topping
Northern Illinois, 23-20 on Friday, September 1. Colton Lichtenberg hit a
go-ahead 37-yard field goal with 2:13 to play before the Huskies missed a
potential game-tying 39-yard field goal in the closing seconds of the game.
The Eagles are led by fifth-year head coach Steve Addazio,
who has led the team to a 25-27 record during his time at the helm of the
program.
Saturday will be the 25th meeting between the two programs,
with Boston College holding a 13-9-2 advantage.
