BUIES CREEK, N.C. – With a record-setting performance in
Saturday’s win at Chowan, Campbell’s Aaron Blockmon has been named the Pioneer
Football League’s Offensive Player of the Week.
Blockmon hauled in seven Elijah Burress passes for Campbell
school records of 180 yards and four touchdowns in the 47-14 win at Chowan.
The redshirt sophomore from Sanford, N.C. caught two TD
passes in the first quarter, and followed with scores in the second and third
stanzas. His four TD catches also tied the overall CU single game touchdowns
scored record. He doubled the school's single game receiving touchdowns record,
and topped the previous receiving yards mark by 45 yards.
Blockmon owns 381 yards receiving through just two games,
already ranking 10th on the Campbell single season list.
The Camels begin the year 2-0 for the second straight
season, piling up 551 yards of total offense and forcing four Chowan turnovers
in the win. CU's 106 points through its first two weeks are the most in back to
back games in program history.
Blockmon is the third Camel to earn PFL weekly honors
through just two weeks of the 2016 season, with De’Shawn Jones (offensive) and
Trey Sanders (special teams) both taking accolades in week one.
The Camels return to Barker-Lane Stadium on Saturday, Sept.
