Erwin senior quarterback Damien Ferguson has been putting up impressive numbers this season, even though his team sits at 1-3 on the season early on.
This season, Ferguson is second in the state in passing yards so far this season, having 1,458 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and only five interceptions on the year.
In Week 3, Ferguson threw for 690 yards and six touchdowns in the loss but has shown that he can be a prolific passer in the state of North Carolina.
"It's been pretty good," Ferguson said when he was asked his impressive numbers so far this season. "All the players have really grown up since last year and we have all played together since we were little, so we know each other's tendencies. It has been a lot of fun."
Ferguson has felt more comfortable in the pocket his senior year, as he feels confident that he can make the throw and trust his offensive line.
He has been a huge part that Erwin is averaging over 40 points per game, which leads the Mountain Athletic conference and Ferguson believes when the Warriors hit conference play, they could certainly play a factor.
"Yeah, we have played a few good teams," he replied. "But we have also made a lot of mistakes offensively and defensively. We are starting to improve in my opinion. The word we need to focus on is execution. If we can execute, we will be a tough team to handle."
UNC-Pembroke has been one program showing interest Ferguson's way, as they have continued to talk to him as of right now. However, if he continues to put up stats like he has early on in the year, more could be heading his way.
