BB&T Field in Winston-Salem and Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh will each host four contests.
Kenan Stadium on the campus of the University of North Carolina has hosted at least one football championship game since 1989 as the NCHSAA made a push for neutral sites, including collegiate facilities, for many of its state championships. But Kenan will not be available this season due to work on the field that will commence when the North Carolina Tar Heels have finished their season.
“We look forward to continuing to contest the NCHSAA state football championships at North Carolina State and Wake Forest,” said Whitfield, “and we appreciate the campuses of these two schools and their administrations’ willingness to absorb the games that had to be moved from Kenan Stadium.”
One game will be played on Friday night, December 12, at both locations and then three games on Saturday. The schedule at Carter-Finley will have the 1-A, 1-AA, 3-A and 3-AA games on tap, while the 2-A, 2-AA, 4-A and 4-AA finals will be played at BB&T Field.
Specific game times will be announced at a later date.
