Games in the Charlotte area were moved to Tuesday to avoid other weather situations and Labor Day. Carolina Gridiron was on hand at the Mallard Creek-Berry Academy matchup. Mallard Creek won 42-18.
All-Gridiron players Demarcus Humphries and Jela Duncan of Mallard Creek and Germone Hopper and Nick Dawson of Berry Academy suited up and played, but the real star of the game was Mallard Creek's Jamel Harbison who scored four touchdowns in his team's victory. After returning the opeening kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown on Friday before the delay, Harbison said he "carried that with me all weekend and knew it would be a boost to the team."
Mallard Creek coach Mike Palmieri was satisfied that his team won on Tuesday night but "we have a lot to work on. We have Mooresville next week after the bye in conference play and we need to get better."
