Forcing the Blue Devils into seven turnovers on the night, the Mavericks defense spent most of their time on the evening in their opponent’s territory. Using an effective pass-rush and solid coverage, Mooresville had a tough time moving the ball.
On offense, Mallard Creek quarterback Andrew Goodman seemed to have his way with the Blue Devil defense, delivering crisp passes to all of his receivers when he wasn’t handing off to Jela Duncan. Duncan used his lateral quickness to evade the Mooresville defense. On both sides of the ball, lineman DJ Humphries was in charge and pushed people out of his way the entire night.
Next week, Mallard Creek plays at Lake Norman while Mooresville hosts Vance in conference action.
