Sources have commented that the Wonders are close to naming Butler head coach Mike Newsome as their new head coach.
Newsome has coached with the Bulldogs of Butler in Mecklenberg County since the school's opening in 1997 and has been the head coach since 2002, leading Butler to the past 2 4AA state championships.
On another note, Shelby High School has announced the retirement of Chris Norman as head football coach. Coach Norman has been one of the most successful coaches in North Carolina over the last 15 years, going 147-39 and leading the Golden Lions to 5 state championship game appearances, winning the 2A title in 1998 and 2AA titles in 2005 and 2006.
Talk about the coaching moves on the Carolina Gridiron message board.
